Hero, China - HK, 2002, 95 min.
By Zhang Yimou, with Jet Li, Tony Leung, Maggy Cheung, Zhang Ziyi, Chen Daoming, Donnie Yen

230 BC, the seven Chinese kingdoms are eager to unified China. King Qin is the most cruel and tough protagonist in this pitiless game. The various kingdoms sent their most lethal assassins to kill Qin. In vain. Until one day, a nameless hero comes to the palace…

After Wong Kar-wai's Ashes Of Time, Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Tsui Hark's Legend Of Zu, it was the right time for worldwide acclaimed Chinese director Zhang Yimou to make a big-budgeted Chinese chivalry movie. The result is a breathtaking and amazingly aesthetic film involving many prestigious stars. Maggie Cheung, Tony Leung, Jet Li and Zhang Ziyi demonstrate once more their high standard acting skills and charisma. Enthusiasts of beautiful photography and Chinese legends shouldn't be disappointed!
